YETC!!!
Wow we learned a lot today about what is available for teachers online! I would use a lot of the websites we visited to create or print worksheets for my classroom. Since I hope to be in the first grade classroom I don't think that my students will have as much time to spend on science since they need so much instruction in literacy. The science websites I would use during free-time or if they had indoor recess. I would have all the sites already pulled up and ready to use for the students. The reading, writing, spelling, etc. websites I would use during literacy centers and if I found math websites I would use them during centers as well.

That is such a great idea! I like that you use the resources that are appropriate for the grade level you are teaching. I think literacy is so important in the younger grades. I like that you would have other websites available to your students during free time to let them explore their interests.
ReplyDeleteI really learned a lot today also!! I love your idea to have websites already up for students to explore during their free time. This way they can learn and explore on their own areas that would not be covered in class. It would be a fun way to learn!
ReplyDeleteI also want to be a first grade teacher. I agree with you that first graders don't do a lot of science, but I think these things are good to know about in case we don't get the grade we want!
ReplyDeleteIn first grade you have to learn to read first before you really make headway into other subjects because if they can't read then they can't really learn about much else. I thought it was so funny how you starte out with the word Wow because that is exactly how I started out my blog as well. I'm amazed by how much is out there for us and I with we could learn it all.
ReplyDeletewhat was your favorite literacy site that they showed at the YETC?
